Overview

The following goods may be imported duty free into Mexico by travelers over the age of 18:

  • 10 packs of cigarettes or 25 cigars or 200g of tobacco.
  • 3L of spirits and 6L of wine.
  • Other goods worth US$500 (if arriving by air) or US$300 (if arriving by land). Mexican nationals may bring US$500 worth of goods if arriving by land during vacation periods such as Easter week.

Prohibited imports

Prohibited or restricted items include narcotics, images depicting childhood in a degrading manner, live species of predatory fish, firearms and ammunition, and used clothing that is not part of your personal baggage.

Prohibited exports

  • Archaeological artifacts
  • Firearms, except for hunting purposes, as long as the rules indicated in.
  • Live predatory fish in their fingerling, juvenile, and adult stage.
  • Thallium Sulfate
  • Totoaba, fresh or refrigerated (fish)
